DigiTV Starter Kit Training |
|
Two sessions of training are required to engage with the Starter Kit; Content Preparation and Starter Kit Content Management System training
Content Preparation Training (CPT) - To give an idea of what content would be useful to your DiTV and mobile audiences usually lasting for one day
- To understand the limitations of the medium (screen sizes, text size etc)
- To give an overview of how people (at present) interact with digital TV
- To start relevant people thinking about the service, its content, architecture, taxonomy and navigation
- The session is aimed at people who will be producing the content and structure of your microsite
- Run through of how the site will look on DiTV and mobile
- We will look at what has already been done by other local authorities; best practice and what has not worked
- After the training, recipients will be able to identify resources required to build and maintain their microsites
- Attendees will go away with the knowledge and enthusiasm to start putting together their site structure
- The session is run as a workshop with a presentation and discussion of content and is generally delivered to a maximum of 12 people. This is also a good session to include heads of departments that may be providing you with content
- For the CPT session a room with projector and screen is required, the entire session usually takes 3-4 hours depending on interaction and breaks
Starter Kit CMS Training - We use a hands-on approach using a demo site on the first day and building the real site on the second
- How to build a microsite; Creation to Publishing
- Navigation and architecture
- Inputting and managing content
- Creation of the different screen types; content, forms, questionnaires, image screens etc
- Integration with back-end databases
- Understanding and analysing MIS (management information)
- Quality assurance testing
- Best practice
- Cover ongoing support of the microsite
- The session is aimed at people who will become the editors and publishers of the microsite, and should be some of the people that attended the CPT session
- The first day of this session will include a presentation and work exercises where the users will develop a pre-defined microsite in the training CMS environment. The second day users will work on the production CMS system (post live micro-site) with their own structure and content
- For the CMS session, attendees would need a PC each with Internet access and preferably the NTL or Telewest emulator installed. If possible in the timescale Sky installation is an advantage but not a requirement at this stage
- A room with a projector and screen is required, the session is for up to eight people
Please note that both sessions are supported by online products and additional bespoke training can be co-ordinated. |
