Useful, updated, easy-to-use content is key to any successful digital TV service and DigiTV is committed to finding partners to supply related information and provide services which enhance our Local Government partner microsites. 

We have forged successful relationships with a number of national organisations who have key local information, which integrates nicely with what our partners are publishing.  The Starter Kit technology has been extended to allow seamless integration of this content wherever the partner feels relevant within their site.

This would mean that this ‘common content’ is available via all the Local Authority microsites on Sky, Virgin, some Freeview boxes and mobile.

DigiTV is keen to find other common content partners who have developed database driven systems for their own website and mobile services, which we can integrate with. DigiTV has published an XML plug-in schema to allow integration of databases, whether national or local.

To date DigiTV’s common content partners include:

• Jobcentre Plus                                                      

The abiltiy to search for a job nationwide is now available on every microsite, that is to say available across the country to all citizens, not just to those viewers in areas with dedicated services. The service is provided by Jobcentre Plus, using the same database that offers their job searching online and on kiosks. Our partnership allows any DiTV viewer to search for a job anywhere in the country, by location, salary or job type.

• Transport Direct

Integration with the award winning real time journey planning database is now complete and viewers can find out the latest travel and transport news, plan a journey or find out train taimes. Again this service is available on all local authority sites, not just those with dedicated services. 

• Community Legal Services  

If you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland and want free high-quality legal information to help you deal with your legal problems the LSC service offers legal advice and leaflet requests on a wide range of subjects. These services are again available both on digital TV and mobile. We are working with the LSC to provide the ability to search the Community Legal Service Direct (CLS Direct) database to find a local legal adviser or solicitor practising in general or specialised areas of law.

• EMIS GP Appointments

Patients can book, amend and cancel GP appointments at all surgeries that use teh EMIS surgery software. Also patients have the ability to order repeat prescriptions safely and securely.
